Truax House is a restoration and renovation of an existing historic house in Bankers Hill into 9 studio apartments and a penthouse unit. The historic Truax House once served as San Diego's first AIDS hospice and is named after one of the city's pioneering AIDS activists, Dr. Brad Truax. Truax House Apartments is a modern residential development that addresses the demand for modern urban living units at a competitive price point. The apartments are 15% dedicated to very low income housing. The house will feature an interactive visitor center with a multi-purpose room, gallery and a drought-tolerant garden. Truax House Apartments aims to receive LEED Certification, for its passive and prescriptive sustainable measures. Additional features include solar PV panels, an open concept floor plan and views to the San Diego bay from the historic Bankers Hill neighborhood. This project is a great way of bringing more housing options to people who desire to live closer to Downtown, while also creating a community appeal in the site with new developments.
